A temple to Golu Devta, the Kumaoni god of justice, known for the thousands of bells devotees have tied up around it — each one a wish or a petition. Quieter than Kainchi Dham, and close enough to combine in the same trip.
A hilltop Hanuman temple on the edge of Nainital, best known as a sunset point — the evening aarti here, with the valley below catching the last light, is a popular stop before heading into town.
Worth a half-day each. Most travelers pick two or three of these to pair with a Kainchi Dham day trip or a 2D/1N package.
The hill station the whole region is named after. The mall road along Naini Lake, boating, and the Naina Devi temple at its northern end — most Kainchi Dham trips use Nainital as a base for exactly this reason.
The largest lake in the Kumaon region, with an island aquarium at its centre and a far calmer waterfront than Nainital's. Good for a slow hour of boating without the crowds.
Seven interconnected freshwater lakes set in oak and pine forest — one of the better birdwatching spots in the Kumaon hills, with a noticeably cooler, quieter feel than the main tourist lakes.
The "lake with nine corners." Less crowded than Bhimtal, and the go-to spot in the area for paragliding, kayaking and a lakeside evening away from the main circuit.
Known as the fruit bowl of Kumaon — terraced orchards, old British-era cottages, and wide Himalayan views without another tourist in sight. A good half-day if you want quiet over sightseeing.
A cliff-edge temple town at over 2,200 m, with some of the clearest Himalayan panoramas in the region and a growing number of orchard-stay cafés. Best done as its own half-day rather than squeezed in.
